Powers Leading the March

Families and community leaders will join the Mohawk Valley March of Dimes for the annual March for Babies today at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica. Strategic’s own Laura Powers is this year’s March for Babies chairwoman.

Laura’s twin boys came into the world after only 26 ½ weeks. Weighing just over 2 pounds each, they spent the next two months in Crouse NICU while they fought to survive. (see images below)

“When I went into preterm labor on Christmas Day at nearly 6 months into my pregnancy, my world was suddenly filled with uncertainty and fear, but also love and hope. I soon learned about March of Dimes and the significance they have in the world of pregnancies and babies,” said Laura.

Against all odds, the powerful Powers twins persevered. Today, Logan and Declan are happy, healthy 4-year old boys who will march with their parents to support the pioneering research and care that saves lives.
